New locally based mental health facilities for South Birmingham are to be provided by designing five new facilities on three sites, each of which specifically reflecting its patient community and healthcare function. The facilities are made up of:

  • Bourn Brook Site: an adult acute building incorporating an Intensive Care Unit; an Older Adult Unit; a specialities building to provide facilities for deaf people, Mother & Baby Services, Eating Disorders, Neuropsychiatry and Outpatients.
  • Showell Green Lane: an Adult and Community Mental Health Service.
  • Ten acres: an Adult and Community Mental Health Service.

Design Our design for the PFI bid process provided close integration and clear identity for mental health services benefiting from:

  • A therapeutic, secure and dignified environment.
  • Excellent integration of clinical teaching and support service.
  • A clear identity for the Trust within its own campus and a single site entrance.
  • The elimination of in-patient movements between separate sites.
