Mitford Autism Unit delivering on its Key Objectives

Mitford Autism Unit is delivering on its key objectives

At the 2018 Design in Mental Health Conference, Director Paul Yeomans and NTW Solutions Ltd, Capital Projects Manager, John Carson gave a presentation on the Mitford Autism Unit, 18 months on from receiving its first patients.

Mitford is the first building in the UK specifically designed for adult in-patients with severe autism, including complex Learning Disability and mental health needs.

“In the old building there was one patient who used to live in self-imposed isolation and crawled everywhere. Within a week of moving into Mitford he was having a drink with staff in one of the offices.” Pamela McIntyre, Ward Manager, Mitford

Mitford is really starting to deliver on its key objectives. The patients’ transition from segregation to home has happened at startling speed. In the presentation Paul and John discuss the feedback, the statistics and the heart-warming patient stories and progress they have made.
