Medical Architecture wins new NHS Sustainability Award

Clock View Hospital is an 85 bed mental health unit developed for Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust by developer Liverpool and Sefton Health Partnership. The new hospital is part of a network of mental health centres planned by the Trust which provide local accessible healthcare.

Winner of the inaugural ‘Capital Projects – Building Design Efficiency’ Award at the Sustainable Health and Care Awards, Clock View is recognised as providing a benchmark for greater financial, social, and environmental sustainability across the NHS and Local Authorities.

This modern health building has attracted international attention for its design and provides a catalyst for local urban regeneration in Walton, an area of deprivation. The quality of their environment plays an important role in helping patients recover and attracting the best NHS staff. Its energy efficient construction is well insulated using low-carbon and largely natural materials, while the internal spaces are brightly day lit with therapeutic gardens and a structured landscape designed to support local ecology.
