Client: Newham Primary Care NHS Trust The existing East Ham Memorial Hospital had become redundant and the PCT aimed to consolidate continuing care services into this site. MAAP prepared proposals for several development options in conjunction with the Trust. The preferred option retains the existing Memorial Hospital frontage whilst demolishing existing buildings to the rear of the site. A new building brings together a range of services, including a day care centre and rehabilitation facilities for the local population as well as providing respite; palliative care and long-term care beds.
The new 75-bedroom facility is organised as a series of two storey wards enclosing courts and offering direct access to gardens on the ground floor with views and daylighting to the more chronic residents on the upper levels. Following Business Case approval, the project is being delivered through NHS LIFT. | |||||||
