£2.7bn investment in health infrastructure

St. Helier Hospital

The government has announced plans for major capital investment in health infrastructure. This is a welcome recognition that the NHS has been starved of capital and is long overdue.

It’s gratifying that several of our clients are beneficiaries of this funding. Medical Architecture will be building on work already in progress at Epsom & St. Helier and Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts to help get best value from future investment.

Perhaps more important is the announcement of “seed funding” for a wide range of community health projects that will drive the future transformation of the NHS. The work Medical Architecture has been doing in Dorset, developing Business Cases for Hubs and Community Hospitals, was specifically identified in the announcement.

As specialists in this sector, we welcome a long term approach to capital investment that will enable us to develop our leadership role in planning and designing the UK healthcare estate.
